Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding, also known as White Plains teeth bonding, is a popular cosmetic dentistry procedure performed by Dr. Mila Belgrade at Miles of Little Smiles. This procedure involves the application of a tooth-colored resin material to your teeth, which is then hardened with a special light. This light ultimately bonds the material to the tooth, improving the overall appearance of your smile. Dental bonding is an ideal solution for individuals looking to repair decayed, chipped, fractured, or discolored teeth. It is also a great alternative to amalgam fillings and can be used to close spaces between teeth or change their shape.

The Dental Bonding Treatment Process

The dental bonding process is straightforward and typically completed in one visit to Dr. Belgrade’s office. It involves preparation, application, bonding, and shaping.

Preparation

In the preparation phase, little to no preparation is needed for dental bonding. Anesthesia is often not necessary unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Dr. Belgrade will use a shade guide to select a composite resin color that closely matches the color of your natural teeth.

Application

During the application phase, Dr. Belgrade will roughen the surface of the tooth and apply a conditioning liquid. These steps help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. She then applies the tooth-colored resin, molding and smoothing it until it’s the proper shape.

Bonding

In the bonding step, Dr. Belgrade hardens the resin using a special light. Once the resin is hardened, she will further trim and shape it, then polish the material until it matches the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.

The Benefits Of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding offers multiple benefits, from improving the appearance of your teeth to offering a cost-effective alternative to other dental procedures.

Aesthetically Pleasing

Dental bonding improves the appearance of your teeth and enhances your smile. Whether you’re dealing with discolored, chipped, or gapped teeth, dental bonding can help. The resin used in the process can be shaped and polished to match your other teeth, providing natural-looking results.

Cost-Effective

Compared to other cosmetic dental procedures like veneers or crowns, dental bonding is a more cost-effective solution. It’s an affordable way to correct the same dental issues and improve your smile without breaking the bank.

Minimal Tooth Enamel Removal

Unlike veneers and crowns, dental bonding requires minimal tooth enamel removal. This means it’s a less invasive procedure, preserving more of your natural tooth structure. Plus, unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth, anesthesia is typically not required, making the procedure quick and painless.
